Responsibility as they enter high school
The jump to Navy, Scarlet, and Gold is not only a bigger field and a BBCOR bat. It is the first time most of these kids are treated like high school players: be where you said you would be, own your reps, keep grades and eligibility clean, take coaching without a parent in the ear, and understand that playing time is earned in practice and kept in the lineup. We teach that on purpose. A kid who can catch and throw but cannot be counted on is not ready for JV or varsity. We will tell him that, and we will help him get there — because the high school game, and everything after it, runs on responsibility first.
The competition teams (summer + fall)
These four clubs play league and tournament schedules in summer and fall. Same names both seasons. Placement is for this competition side of the program.
- Gold 18U — varsity. Oldest group. Highest competition we can lock.
- Scarlet 16U — varsity fight. High school varsity tournaments and the toughest 16U brackets we can get.
- Navy 15U — our JV club. High school JV tournaments in fall and summer. This is the jump from youth travel into the high school game. Many Navy kids are coming off youth A, AA, AAA, or Major teams.
- Iron 13U — youth. AA this fall. Highest bracket that group should be in.
We regularly carry 14- and 15-year-olds on Scarlet and Gold when that is the right fight. Winter / indoor work is separate. A kid can train with us in the shop and still need a form to be on a summer or fall competition roster.
Youth letters are not a high school team
Families often ask what Navy means in AA / AAA / Major. Those letters only describe youth travel weekends (USSSA-style). They are a skill bracket for 9U–14U. They are relative — AA in one state is not AA in another — and they expire the day he steps on a high school diamond.
- A — rec / first-year travel. Fundamentals.
- AA — real select ball, still developing. Iron 13U lives here this fall.
- AAA — tighter arms and defense. The honest middle of travel.
- Major — top slice of that age group. Less mercy.
A kid can be AAA or Major at 13U and still belong on a JV high school club the next summer or fall. Last summer’s hat is not a varsity roster spot.
What changes at Navy, Scarlet, and Gold
High school baseball is a different sport in the details that matter:
- Full 90-foot diamond, 60'6" mound
- BBCOR −3 bats — youth USSSA/USA bats stay in the bag
- Nine-man order, limited re-entry — not “everybody bats”
- School-style eligibility and pitch rules
- JV vs varsity is how tournament directors treat the weekend, not a letter on a banner
Navy is where youth AA / AAA / Major kids learn that game and get innings in our summer and fall JV schedule. Scarlet and Gold are the varsity look. Coaches decide which one gives this player maximum benefit — more reps or more heat — and they will move him if the answer changes.
Why families stay
You will not guess all season whether he is in the right fight. You will not sit through a soft bracket so the team can look undefeated. You will not watch a ready kid stay stuck on a youth letter because “that’s his age.”

The baseball is real — the right team, the honest conversation, the expectation that he shows up like a high school player — but what people stay for is the way it feels to belong here. Coaches who know his name. Teammates who have his back. A place that still treats the game, and the kid playing it, like they matter.
Lists for summer and fall 2027 competition are open. Tryout dates post as soon as they lock. The kids whose forms are already in are the ones coaches are writing down first.
