Semper Fi Athletics - College Resources

Don’t wait until November of senior year to find out you’re behind.

College baseball is a process. By the time senior fall hits, a lot of the roster spots — and the honest conversations about fit — are already moving. The players who get looked at started earlier: development, video, grades, and the right introductions.

Coach Jones and Semper Fi Athletics can help with the work that actually matters: getting better, getting usable video, connecting you with coaches, and telling you straight whether a school is a fit. Velo helps. Academics and character get you in the room.  If your player is in the shop and you’re still “figuring it out later,” later is already here.

Where Can I actually play?

Level What it usually means Good for
NCAA D1 Highest roster pressure, fewer walk-on spots Rare fits; don’t build the whole plan around this
NCAA D2 Real recruiting, aid mixed athletic/academic Strong Northern Colorado option
NCAA D3 No athletic scholarships; academics + need-based Great schools if the student is a student
NAIA Flexible recruiting, athletic aid possible Several nearby options (OKWU is already on your commits page)
JUCO / NJCAA Play now, develop, transfer Late bloomers, grades that need time, pitchers adding velo

Year-by-year timeline

  • 9th–10th: Play, lift, get grades right. Start a simple highlight habit. No paying for “recruiting services” yet.
  • Sophomore summer / junior year: Measurables, full-game video, FieldLevel (or similar) profile, first coach emails, camp list.
  • Junior spring–senior fall: Official/unofficial visits, NCAA Eligibility Center if D1/D2, FAFSA, WUE check, narrow the list.
  • Senior year: Decision, deposit, keep working. Don’t shut it down after one offer.

What we need from the player

A checklist:

  • Unedited full-game video + a short highlight
  • Height/weight, throws/bats, velo / pop time / 60 if you have it
  • GPA, transcript, test scores if they have them
  • Position and what they want (stay close to home, bigger campus, cheaper school, play immediately)
  • 8–12 schools they’re actually willing to attend

How Semper Fi helps

We will:

  • Help film and pick clips that don’t look fake
  • Tell you honestly if a school is a reach
  • Email/intro coaches we know when the player is ready
  • Help families think through JUCO vs 4-year and cost

We will not:

  • Guarantee a scholarship
  • Spam 200 coaches
  • Push a school just because it sounds impressive

Player how-to

  • Player emails semperfiathletics@gmail.com
  • Subject line: name, grad year, position, town
  • Attach or link video in the first email

Colorado kids can attend participating public schools in the West at no more than 150% of in-state tuition. That’s real money. It is not a scholarship and each school sets its own rules (GPA, major, deadline, quota).
